Measurement Guide
How to Measure
Precise measurements are critical. Follow this guide to ensure your Devious Door fits perfectly.
Measure the Rough Opening
Measure the width and height of the existing doorframe opening — not the door itself. Measure in three places (top, middle, bottom) and use the smallest width.
Account for Trim & Casing
If you plan to add trim or casing around the bookcase, subtract its thickness from your rough opening before ordering.
Check Your Depth
Measure the wall depth (the distance from the face of the wall to the back of the frame). Single doors require at least 8" of depth; doubles need 10".
Verify Your Floor
The door swings outward. Ensure there is adequate clearance space on the opening side. We recommend at least 36" of clear floor space.
Standard Dimensions
| Door Type | Width | Height | Depth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Door | 36" | 80" | 8" |
| Single (Max) | 47" | 96" | 10" |
| Double Door | 48" | 80" | 10" |
| Double (Max) | 96" | 96" | 12" |
Oversize dimensions incur an upcharge. See pricing in the configurator.
Do
Measure at least three times and use the smallest dimension.
Don't
Don't measure the old door — measure the rough opening.
